You will never find a person who has seen this movie and dint like it. It’s impossible to find anything wrong with this movie. Why you ask? Because it’s flawless… a pure masterpiece. It’s not every time that movies like this are made but when they are made they please you and stick with you forever. Shawshank Redemption is a movie like that. A movie that has everything… acting, story, direction, execution, screenplay going in that right direction making this a perfect and flawless and my number uno movie.

2 ) Titanic (1997)

The movie that was my number 1 movie for 7 years. It was only after the seventh year that I had a seven year itch and replaced it. A movie that is so heart warming and touching that I cry every time. This is my most favorite romantic movie and I don’t think any other movie even comes close to this one for me. This movie is beautiful, heart- wrenching and charming. The chemistry between Leo and Kate is awesome. The scenes in the 2nd half are touching. The song ‘My heart will go on’ is mesmerizing. This movie is just magical and it always has me spellbinded.

3 ) Avatar (2009)

Ah… the visuals. The beautiful land of Pandora, the ferocious yet lovely Toruk, the spiritual Eywa… all are so appealing that I would love to go and live there. This movie just showed of what our earth might have been like before we destroyed it and polluted it. The beauty of Pandora is mesmerizing. The story, acting everything is good but it’s the visuals which take your breath away.

Favorite Quote:

Jake: Sometimes your whole life boils down to one insane move.

4 ) The Departed (2006)

The best Crime movie I have seen. Such an astonishing story and the screenplay of this movie is… just BRILLIANT! The acting is very strong with likes of Jack Nicholson, Leonardo Dicaprio, Matt Damon, Mark Wahlberg and even Alec Baldwin in this very tiny role is brilliant. This movie definitely deserved the Best Movie Award at the Academy’s because it really is a breath taking movie that shouldn’t be missed.

Favorite Quote:

Frank Costello: I don’t want to be a product of my environment. I want my environment to be a product of me.

5 ) Forrest Gump (1994)

There is nothing left to be said about Tom Hanks and his acting. I have already said so much about him that I would just be repeating myself. In this movie too as usual he is brilliant. Many people have a problem with the story but I think otherwise. This movie has one of the best stories. The innocence and purity of Forrest character entices you and assures you that ‘The world isn’t so bad after all’.

Favorite Quote:

Forrest Gump: My momma always said, “Life was like a box of chocolates. You never know what you’re gonna get.”

6 ) Eternal Sunshine of a Spotless Mind (2004)

I never knew Jim Carrey was capable of this… I mean to act so brilliantly in a character that’s so out of this character. Or at least I thought so. But after watching this movie I will never ever bracket him into Comedian again. He is just amazing in this movie that it proves that he is a great actor. Kate Winslet as usual is great and beautiful (yes, even in weird blue and orange hair she looks breath taking). The story though is my favorite part… Its unique, its brilliant and its so my kinds (the whole soul mates find each other no matter what).

Favorite Quote:

Joel: I could die right now, Clem. I’m just… happy. I’ve never felt that before. I’m just exactly where I want to be.

7 ) E.T.: The Extra Terrestrial (1982)

Steven Spielberg is a genius and E.T is one of the prime examples for that. One of the best science fiction movies ever made. The scene in which ET says goodbye is such a tear jerker. I cried and cried, unwilling to say bye to him… as I fell in love with him. The story is beautiful and it unfolds more beautifully. The acting, direction and music score are top notch. It’s a sweet movie in which Drew Barrymore is so so cute.

Favorite Quote:

Elliot: You could be happy here, I could take care of you. I wouldn’t let anybody hurt you. We could grow up together, E.T.

8 ) The Wizard of OZ (1939)

A children’s movie that I saw only after growing up. Yet, I loved the movie from point go. The movie is so blissful… not once do you get bored. The reason this movie works is because of the beautiful and simple story, a great cast, good songs and brilliant acting. And adding cherry on top is the Technicolor. To make a colored movie in 1939 isn’t a joke… that’s real talent. This is an ever green movie which I m sure I will enjoy even when I m 60 and watching with my Grand Kids (hopefully).

Favorite Quote:

Wicked Witch of the West: Just try and stay out of my way. Just try! I’ll get you, my pretty, and your little dog, too!

9 ) Cast Away (2000)

I was awestruck by Tom Hank’s performance in this movie. It’s his performance that makes me watch the movie again and again. The movie is a brilliant too. The story is very gripping and has a sense of realism in it. I m so thankful that the director made the movie simple instead of having Tom Cruise battle with animals or something like it. The character of Wilson was so sweet… even I felt dejected when he was gone.

Favorite Quote:

Chuck Noland: The most beautiful thing in the world is, of course, the world itself.

10 ) It’s a Wonderful Life (1946)

It’s such a wonderful movie. Its one of the best movies I have seen. A movie that makes me cry but in the end makes me feel good and makes me grateful for everything. A movies that tells us how important each and every person is and how precious life is. It’s a beautiful story that’s crafted very well. The direction and acting are brilliant and there is nothing… absolutely nothing bad about this movie. It’s a must watch for sure.

Favorite Quote:

George Bailey: I wanna live again!

11) Sixth Sense (1999)

One of the most surprising, thrilling, chilling movie ending I have ever seen. The end of this movie just blew me away. The acting by Bruce Willis is top notch. The plot of the movie is intriguing and makes you really think about the world you are really living in and the world that you see. It never once gave me the scare but gave me the chills. And more importantly it left a long lasting impression on me.

Favorite Quote:

Cole Sear: Some magic’s real.

12) The Silence of the Lambs (1991)

A movie that I avoided watching because some people said it was a horror movie about cannibals and if I saw that movie they would eat me too. And trust me I so naïve that I bought that. It was 2 years ago that I dared to sit and watch this movie. I was so scared at first but as the movie went on I realized I was stupid and also that this movie was more than astonishing. The acting was amazing (no wonder they won ‘best actor and best actress’ awards), the plot is absorbing and Direction is speckles. Its one the best thrillers/ suspense movies I have see without a doubt.

Favorite Quote:

Hannibal Lecter: I do wish we could chat longer, but… I’m having an old friend for dinner. Bye.

13) Some like It Hot (1959)

This movie is the best comedy movie I have seen. It’s a classic masterpiece. The humor, the witty dialogues, the plot (which has been used and reused so many times now), the acting… everything about this movie yells out AWESOME. The chemistry between Marilyn Monroe, Tony Curtis, and Jack Lemmon is too brilliant. And the lines between Curtis and Lemmon are epic. This movie is one of those everlasting movies that would never be too old to watch.

14) The Godfather (1972)

Yes, I love the book more. Yes, I think the book is better than the movie but I never ever said that The Godfather is a bad movie. Its one of the best movies I have seen. This is a brilliantly acted movie. Every member of the cast gives such strong performances that you can’t help but sit up and notice the movie and build a dam of appreciation. It’s a brilliantly crafted and directed movie. The best part about the 2nd movie is that Robert De Niro and Al Pacino come together. I haven’t seen the third part though.

Favorite Quote:

Michael: I’ll make him an offer he can’t refuse.

15) Casablanca (1942)

What can I say about this movie that hasn’t already been said? It’s rated as one of the best movies ever made and also the most romantic movie. 16) Inception (2010)

I have already gone gaga over the movie in my review here. I loved, loved and loved this movie. This movie is work of a genius with visual treat, intriguing plot and the climax, the acting and Ofcourse my Leonardo Dicaprio. One of the best 2010 movies.

17) Rear Window (1954)

Out of all the Alfred Hitchcock movies I have seen this is my most favorite. This movie also stars my favorite actor James Stewart (so do many other Hitchcock movies). I saw this movie only recently when one of my friends told me that Disturbia (also another great movie was in my list but got cut in last minute) was loosely based on this movie. This movie is funny, well acted and directed (duh), thrilling and suspenseful. Again I would say one of the best Hitchcock movies.

Favorite Quote:

Stella: When two people love each other, they come together – WHAM – like two taxis on Broadway.

18) Pulp Fiction (1994)

This is that movie that made me a fan Quentin Tarantino and that made me watch his other movies. I will go ahead and say it I think that Quentin Tarantino is one the most intelligent film maker I have seen. I love his trademark story lines… they add that punch to the movies. Pulp Fiction is the best movie of his I have seen (haven’t seen Inglorious Basterds yet). The acting and the story are top notch. And for me this whole movie is like a beautiful work of art. And till date I haven’t stopped wondering what the hell was in that briefcase? Any idea?

Favorite Quote:

Vincent: I don’t mean any disrespect, I just don’t like people barking orders at me.

19) Goodwill Hunting (1997)

I m one of those people who loved this movie for its realistic script. The character of Will Hunting is very genuine. The script beautifully touches on the psychology of the human brain and our behavior. I m so glad that they decided to make this like they did… A beautiful, touching and heart warming movie rather than a thriller which they had 1st intended to. The sheer brilliance of the script and the acting make this movie my favorite.

Favorite Quote:

Chuckie: Look – you’re my best friend, so don’t take this the wrong way. In twenty years, if you’re still livin’ here, comin’ over to my house to watch the Patriots games, still workin’ construction, I’ll f****** kill you. That’s not a threat; now, that’s a fact. I’ll f****** kill you.

20) The Lord of the Rings Trilogy (2001, 02, 03)

I guess you would hardly find anyone who din’t like LOTR. The movies are fantastic and anyone can vouch for that. The direction, the acting, the plot (even with few changes from the book) is top notch. These are probably few of the best fantasy movies ever made.

Favorite Quote:

Galadriel: The world is changed. I feel it in the water. I feel it in the earth. I smell it in the air. Much that once was is lost, for none now live who remember it.

21) Toy Story Series (1995, 1999, 2010)

If you ask me to pick one favorite among these three movies, I just can’t. Each of these movies is marvelous and as good as its counterparts. Each and every movie has a great story and equally brilliant voice cast that brings these characters alive. I especially love the voices of Tom Hanks and Tim Allen; they as Woody and Buzz are perfect and not in 100 years could you find someone better. In my opinion the reason the movies work so well is because every movie has a very strong, gripping and moving plot that strikes a cord with audiences. Ah! How I love Pixar animations!

Favorite Quote:

Buzz: How dare you open a Space man’s helmet on an uncharted planet? My eyeballs could have been sucked from of their sockets!

22) Pirates of Caribbean (2003)

Ah! Johnny Depp… what can I say about him? He is so seductive that I could hardly concentrate on anything else expect for him… I dint even bother noticing someone like Orlando Bloom. Depp in this move is EXTRAORDINARY… his performance as Jack Sparrow is his best till date. The way he walks, talks and lives the character of Captain Jack Sparrow screams GENIUS. Ofcourse Orlando Bloom, Keira Knightley and Geoffrey Rush are brilliant too but it’s Depp who steals the show. The story Ofcourse is great… I have always been fascinated by Pirate’s life. The adventure of this movie appeals to me. The 1st and 2nd parts are my favorite of the series and can’t wait for 4th.

Favorite Quote:

Jack Sparrow: You can keep doing that forever, the dog is NEVER going to move.
Seedy Looking Prisoner: Well excuse me if we haven’t resorted ourselves to the gallows just yet.

23) Finding Nemo (2003)

This is the 1st Pixar animated movie I saw (I know they had come up with great movies like – Toy story 1 & 2 and Monsters, Inc. before this but this was my first) and loved. It’s only after watching this movie that I decided to see more movies by them. This movie is funny, touching, brilliant, cute and lovable. The anguish of the character Marlin is real and you can feel it. Every minute of the movie I was cheering for Marlin to find his boy Nemo. Oh, I liked the concept of vegetarian sharks too 😉 .

Favorite Quote:

Chum: Humans – -think they own *everything*.
Anchor: Probably *American*.

24) The Dark Knight (2008)

I m not much into Batman and Superman movies as I like Spiderman (I love the spiderman movie too) better :P. But this movie is an exception for 3 main reasons – Heath Ledger, Heath Ledger and Christopher Nolan. To be very frank when I 1st saw the movie I dint like it much, I only liked Heath Ledger but it was the 2ndtime around that I enjoyed this movie more. The movie is brilliant but I think its cause of Heath Ledger that its my favorite.

Favorite Quote:

The Joker: Do I really look like a guy with a plan? You know what I am? I’m a dog chasing cars. I wouldn’t know what to do with one if I caught it.

25) Ghost (1990)

From the 1st time I ever saw Ghost it has become my favorite. There is something about this movie that’s magical. The whole love transcends even after death is my kinds. The chemistry between Demi Moore and Patrick Swayze is the best onscreen chemistry in my opinion. You can feel the love they share every time they look into each others eyes. This movie is romantic as well as funny with an engrossing plot. The song ‘O My Love… My Darling, I m hungry for your touch’ I mean ‘Unchained Melody’ is just the perfect icing this yummy cake required.

Favorite Quote:

Sam Wheat: It’s amazing, Molly. The love inside, you take it with you.

26) Up (2009)

This is such a sweet movie. The old man in this movie reminds me so much of my Grand Pa, not that my Grand Pa was ever grumpy old man, infact he was just the opposite. Anyways, this yet another master piece from Pixar is so sweet, cute and adorable. The relationship between Kurt (the kid) and the gruffly old man is so real and heart warming. Even though the love story of the Carl (old man) and his wife (Ellie) is for hardly 5 minutes… it’s my favorite part of the movie. Their love story is ‘Aww’.

Favorite Quote:

Russell: A wilderness explorer is a friend to all, be a plant or fish or tiny mole!

[offended] Yeah it does.

27) Pretty Woman (1990)

This is such an awesome movie that you never have enough of it. It is very difficult to find people who dont like this movie. The chemistry between Richard Gere and Julia Roberts is so good. Its like a modern Cinderella story where the girl’s life transforms from rags to riches due a lovely Prince Charming. This in no doubt is THE BEST Julia Roberts movie.

Favorite Quote:

Edward Lewis: So what happens after he climbs up and rescues her?
Vivian: She rescues him right back.

28) The Sound of Music (1965)

Its said that its one of the best musicals ever made but I’m not sure about that actually. I like the music no doubt and Julie Andrews has a awesome voice. Its good musical movie but to me what appeals more and makes it my favorite is the plot. The plot is very real, very possible and very beautiful. The acting is amazing too especially by Julie Andrews is splendid.

29) The Hangover (2009)

When u see a movie 5 times in a row for 2 continuous days and yet never get bored but laugh out loud every single time as if its the first time, its more than evident the movie is funny. The Hangover is one the best comedies I have seen. The scene with the Tiger in the bathroom is the best. Bradley Cooper is sexy and he looks HOT in the movie. Zach Galifianakis is HILARIOUS! I really love this movie; I don’t care if other peoplegirls disagree.

Favorite Quote:

Phil: Whose baby is that?
Alan: Check its collar or something.

30) Jaws (1975)

The movie that got me fascinated and scared of Sharks at the same time (the scare I got over, the fascination not yet). This movie is beautifully directed, acted and scripted. This movie’s chillingly, thrilling and gives you goose bumps. It’s a sure Masterpiece that has been tough to match up to.

Favorite Quote:

Hooper: I’m not going to waste my time arguing with a man who’s lining up to be a hot lunch.

31) It Happened One Night (1934)

If you have seen either Chori Chori (Raj Kapoor and Nargis) or Dil Hai Ki Manta Nahi (Aamir Khan) and liked it, then believe me you have got to see the original. Its one of the best movies I have seen. The movie is so well crafted and performed that it’s a delight to watch. The 1st movie to win 5 Academy Awards says something about the movie… doesn’t it? Frank Capra is brilliant.

Favorite Quote:

Peter Warne: I want to see what love looks like when it’s triumphant. I haven’t had a good laugh in a week.

32) Memento (2000)

This is an out to out Director’s movie. Generally, in every movie it’s the acting that interests me the most. But in this movie the acting hardly caught me (even though it was good) because I was intrigued by the direction and the screenplay. The way story is told in this movie is beyond exemplary. Such an enthralling movie that till date I m mesmerized by it. This movie made me a fan of Christopher Nolan.

Favorite Quote:

Leonard Shelby: I was the only guy who disagreed with the cops – and I had brain damage.

33) Witness for the Prosecution (1957)

Agatha Christie is one my favorite writer. She spins the tales in such beautiful manner that I always find it difficult to put the book down. In the same way this movie is so made intriguingly that it’s difficult to take your eyes off it. Charles Laughton is such an amazing actor that he brings a few laughs to this serious and brilliant court room the drama. This is the second Bill Wilder movie in my list.

34) Die Hard (1988)

I love Bruce Willis and the whole Die Hard series. The movie is action packed with an engaging storyline and very strong performances. 35) Breakfast at Tiffany’s (1961)

It’s such a classic romantic movie and pretty famous one too. I had heard so much about this movie before I saw it and my expectations were pretty high. But the movie lived up to all the hype. Audrey Hepburn is such an amazing actress. The romance, the comedy, the acting, the story and the music score perfectly fall into place. The song ‘Moon River’ is beautiful. Yester year actresses are so talented they can act, sing and dance.

Favorite Quote:

Holly Golightly: Did I tell you how divinely and utterly happy I am?
Paul Varjak: Yes.

36) Psycho (1960)

Another one of Alfred Hitchcock’s best. This is probably one of the most known and most seen Hitchcock’s movies. The story of this movie has been an inspiration for so many more movies, shows and books. The acting and story are remarkable. This is a movie that scores very high on suspense and thrills. A movie with a mind blowing ending. This movie is one of its kinds.

Favorite Quote:

Norman Bates: She might have fooled me, but she didn’t fool my mother.

37) Fight Club (1999)

This movie is in this list for 2 main reasons – Edward Nortan and a very thrilling and chilling ending. Edward Nortan doesn’t play his character but becomes the character. It’s the best role he has played till date. Brad Pitt Ofcourse is brilliant but Edward is impeccable or even more than that. Yes, the movie is violet and dark but its still a master piece in many senses.

Favorite Quote:

Tyler Durden: Without pain, without sacrifice, we would have nothing. Like the first monkey shot into space.

This movie is so so so sweet and so ‘aww’ that I can watch it again and again but never ever get bored of it. Everything about this movie is awesome – the music, the story, the animation and the voices… everything is so lovely. I especially love the voice of Paige O’Hara as Belle… she has incredibly lovely and very soothing voice. The song ‘Beauty and the Beast’ is one of my favorite songs and it’s also the most played on my I-pod. One of the best movies I have ever seen.

Favorite Quote:

Beast: I want to do something for her… but what?
Cogsworth: Well, there’s the usual things: flowers… chocolates… promises you don’t intend to keep…

40) Catch me if you can (2002)

Two of my favorite actors come together in this movie… so how can I not watch this movie over and over again? Based on a true story this movie has one of the best plots. The chase between the FBI agent (Tom Hanks) and the very charming impersonator (Leonardo DiCaprio) is worth a watch. The movie is interesting, well acted, well directed. I guess that when you have Steven Spielberg, Tom Hanks and Leonardo Dicaprio come together and make one movie, it ought to be good and so it is.

Favorite Quote:

Frank Abagnale Sr.: Two little mice fell in a bucket of cream. The first mouse quickly gave up and drowned. The second mouse, wouldn’t quit. He struggled so hard that eventually he churned that cream into butter and crawled out. Gentlemen, as of this moment, I am that second mouse.

The Ice Ages movies are such a pleasure to watch. The movies are just simply outstanding. The animation is brilliant, the voices are apt, the story is funny, heart warming and just so so good. The story is brilliant because it actually pulls off a perfect murder. The cinematography (considering it is a 1958 movie) is splendid, the acting is good and Ofcourse the direction is remarkable. This movie has all the Alfred Hitchcock’s elements in it. James Stewart as in every movie is great even in this one.

45) Brokeback Mountain (2005)

This is the movie that made me a fan of Heath Ledger and Jake Gyllenhaal. The movie is made with so much of class, elegance and honesty. The movie is high on drama but low in melodrama making it one of the best romance dramas. The movie is crude in no scene every shot is dealt with dignity. The whole gay forbidden love just shows that love is just that… love… a beautiful emotion that can never be anything but right. This movie is a master piece and till date I think it deserves an Oscar.

Favorite Quote:

Jack Twist: I wish I knew how to quit you.

46) Lost in Translation (2003)

The movie is mature and I m surprised that I actually like it. You see, most of the times I find mature movies boring. But I saw this movie because the critics were going gaga over it and also because it has Scarlett Johansson in it. After seeing Match Point I had become her fan and I decided to watch this one. This movie is just one of those deep, soulful, intelligently made, brilliantly acted, mature movies. I guess if you have ever felt lonely in life you will relate to the movie. The best thing about this is that it’s well written.

Favorite Quote:

Bob:  The more you know who you are, and what you want, the less you let things upset you.

47) When Harry Met Sally (1989)

The writing and the dialogues… those make this movie one of the best romantic comedies ever made. Ofcourse Meg Ryan as usual is sexy, cute, funny, adorable all combined into one. The chemistry between Billy Crystal and Meg Ryan is superb. This movie has got few of the best lines I have ever heard and few of the best scenes I have seen.

Favorite Quote:

Harry Burns: I love that you get cold when it’s 71 degrees out. I love that it takes you an hour and a half to order a sandwich. I love that you get a little crinkle above your nose when you’re looking at me like I’m nuts. I love that after I spend the day with you, I can still smell your perfume on my clothes. And I love that you are the last person I want to talk to before I go to sleep at night. And it’s not because I’m lonely, and it’s not because it’s New Year’s Eve. I came here tonight because when you realize you want to spend the rest of your life with somebody, you want the rest of your life to start as soon as possible.

48) Kung Fu Panda (2008)

You have got to love this big fat Panda! Kung Fu Panda is one of those movies in which a smile never leaves my face. The movie isn’t laugh out loud funny but it makes you smile throughout the movie and that’s what I like about the movie. The voices are perfect, the animation is good, fighting is too good, the story is interesting and gripping and all in all, the movie is brilliant.

Po: There is no charge for awesomeness… or attractiveness.

49) Little Miss Sunshine (2006)

I only saw this movie because it was in the Top 250 movies in IMBD and boy am I glad that I saw this one. This movie is the best situational and black comedy movies I have seen. 50) You’ve got a Mail (1998)

Such a beautiful movie this one is. When I 1st saw the movie I loved it no doubt but was wondering if falling in love online real but now I know it’s for rea. Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan share a great chemistry in this movie too. They are such brilliant actors that they just light up the screen. The movie is so likeable, sweet and romantic. I like Meg Ryan’s hair style in this movie. It was hard to pick between this movie and Jerry McGuire (as it got left out by my stupid counting error)… which again is a brilliant movie and one of the best Tom Cruise movie. Can I pick two movies please?

51) Lion King (1994)

This movie puts a smile on my face… a very big smile. My school had decided to take us to this movie but I got late and missed the bus and nagged until my parents promised me to show this movie. I saw this movie sitting in between mom and dad munching the popcorn and well having one of the best experiences of my life. This was my very 1st animation movie. Well, moving on Lion King is a beautiful movie. The characters, story, animation are amazing. The songs… oh the songs… are very extra ordinary. I especially love the song, “Can you feel the love tonight”… its one of my most favorite songs ever. Lion King is special movie.

Mufasa: Look at the stars. The great kings of the past look down on us from those stars….So whenever you feel alone, just remember that those kings will always be there to guide you. And so will I.

52) French Kiss (1995)

This is a beautiful movie. Meg Ryan’s Kate is so very believable… you can see every emotion clearly on her face. Your heart goes out for her every time she cries. I had never seen Kevin Kline in any movie before but he plays the character of a golden hearted thief to perfection. The chemistry between the two is brilliant and during the whole movie you want them to get together, not once wanting her to get back with her ex. One of best romantic comedies ever made. I so wish people could make more movies like this one.

Favorite Quote:

Kate: I had this feeling about him, same for him. It wasn’t exactly a thunderclap, or a lightning-bolt, it was more like a…
Luc: Light drizzle?

53) Grease (1978)

‘You’re the one that I want…(you are the one i want), o,o, oo, honey’. No matter how much I try I cant get this song out of my head I can’t nor can I get John Travolta’s expressions when sings – ‘ it’s electrifyin’!’. I love this movie and I sing and dance with every time I see this movie. ‘Summer Nights’ is another brilliant song in this movie followed by ‘We Go Together’. One of the best musical movies I have seen. Man! John Travolta can dance and sing!

Favorite Quote:

I got chills.
They’re multiplyin’.
And I’m losin’ control.
‘Cause the power
you’re supplyin’,
it’s electrifyin’! (song lyrics of course, what else can you expect?)

54) Bourne Trilogy (2002, 2004, 2007)

I was randomly surfing through the channels, found Matt Damon killing someone, blowing up a house and looking awesome at the same time so decided to watch him more… that’s how I ended up matching the movie. When the movie got over I understood nothing as I was watching Bourne Supremacy without watching Bourne Identity. So the very next day went to the DVD shop and got all the 2 DVD’s and from that moment it has been my favorite spy movie… yes more than James Bond. The acting, story is amazing. It keeps you glued to it from the beginning to the end. I can’t wait for Bourne Legacy to release.

Favorite Quote:

Nykwana Wombosi: If you are going to kill me, kill me dead!

55) The Notebook (2004)

One of the best movies adapted from the book. Very few movies do justice to the books they are based on but this is not one of them. It’s so well adapted that I can as it’s nearly as good as the book. The magic of the movie is such that you don’t keep thinking about the book. The best thing about this movie is the chemistry between the lead actors and also the photography. The movie is just beautiful to look at. It pleases both your eyes and the heart.

Favorite Quote:

Noah: The best love is the kind that awakens the soul; that makes us reach for more, that plants the fire in our hearts and brings peace to our minds. That’s what I hope to give you forever.

56) Blood Diamond (2006)

A movie by one of my favorite actors of all time. Even though Leonardo Dicaprio was nothing less than remarkable in this movie, for me it was Djimon Hounsou who impresses more. He holds you from the very 1st scene till and end and makes you feel for him as the movie goes on. Ofcourse Leo and Jennifer Connelly aren’t behind as they play their characters to perfectly. The acting is top notch; the story is marvelous yet sad.

Favorite Quote:

Ambassador Walker: The Third World is not a world apart… and the witness you will hear today speaks on its behalf. Let us hear the voice of that world. Let us learn from that voice… and let us ignore it no more. Ladies and gentlemen, Mr. Solomon Vandy.

57) Shrek Series (2001, 2004, 2007, 2010)

How can you not fall in love with the big, fat, ugly, big hearted, green ogre? How can you not like the talkative Donkey who is funny as hell? How can you not find the voice of Puss sexy (Antonio Bandera’s has the sexiest voice according to me)? In general… how can you not like this movie? Shrek if you ask me is one of the best animated movies ever made. Except for the Shrek the Third, the other movies… Shrek, Shrek 2 and Shrek Forever After are just brilliant.

Favorite Quote:

Princess Fiona: What are you doing? You know, you should sweep me off my feet out yonder window and down a rope onto your valiant steed.

Shrek: You’ve had a lot of time to plan this, haven’t you?

58) Double Indemnity (1944)

When I 1st saw Jism (Hindi movie) I was pretty impressed with the story actually. It was only after watching Double Indemnity that I realized that Jism wasn’t all that great. As it stands no where close to Double Indemnity which is a classic in every sense. It has all the elements that a good film noir must have – crime, drama, a femme fatale and a victim of fate. The acting is flawless and movie keeps you glued till the very end.

Favorite Quote:

Walter Neff: How could I have known that murder could sometimes smell like honeysuckle?

59) Terminator  2 (1991)

Yes, I love Terminator and in my view Terminator 1 & 2 are few of the finest movies ever made… when James Cameroon made them actually. He is one of the best directors and it shows off in these two movies. If you haven’t seen these movies… you have to. I liked the 2nd part a bit more than the 1st cause of the story line. I haven’t seen the third. And when I saw the 4th I wanted to run away from theater… literally during the 1st half. The second half was better though.

Favorite Quote:

The Terminator: I know now why you cry. But it’s something I can never do.

60) Jurassic Park (1993)

This was my very 1st movie in a theater. I was 5 (I think) at the time that it was released. I went to this movie with my parents and Granddad. My dad tells me that I was marveled by the movie and after coming home that was all I spoke about. I don’t remember that much but I remember watching this movie later and being astonished by it. The acting, plot, suspense and effects of the movie are enthralling. One of the best thriller movies I have seen till date for sure. (I like Jurassic Park 2 too but still 1 remains special cause it was my 1st movie).

Favorite Quote:

Dr. Ian Malcolm: God creates dinosaurs. God destroys dinosaurs. God creates man. Man destroys God. Man creates dinosaurs…
Dr. Ellie Sattler: Dinosaurs eat man. Woman inherits the earth…

61) Tootsie (1982)

Dustin Hoffman is so very startling in this movie. There were few moments where I was sitting and wondering… Is this really Hoffman or is it really a woman. Hoffman as Dorothy Michaels is so splendid. You watch, re watch this movie for its brilliant comedy (rated as 2nd best comedy movie by AFI) and mainly for Hoffman as Dorothy Michaels. He is brilliant!

Favorite Quote:

Michael Dorsey: I was a better man with you, as a woman… than I ever was with a woman, as a man.

62) Julie and Julia (2009)

This is a movie heart warming, endearing, charming, delightful, brilliant, awesome, amazing, gleeful, so ‘Aww’, sweet, lovable … you get the point right? Before watching this movie I had no clue about who Julia Child was, so after the movie I saw a few videos of hers. While watching the movie I loved the acting by everyone but after seeing the videos of Julia Child… I m blown away by the acting of Meryl Streep. She brought the character of Julia Child alive on big screen. The mannerisms, the way she talks everything was very apt. This movie just reinforces my point that Meryl Streep is one of the greatest actresses to walk on this earth.

Favorite Quote:

Paul ChildYou are the butter to my bread, you are the breath to my life.

63) Home Alone Series (1990, 1992 and 1997)

How I love these movies! I have seen these movies (the 1st and 2nd mostly) a billion times but never get bored. Everytime they are aired on television I m glued to them. The movies are incredibly funny and Macaulay Culkin is so brilliant that he carries the movies on his tiny shoulders. These movies are perfect in my eyes.

Favorite Quote:

Bird Lady: The man I loved fell out of love with me. That broke my heart. When the chance to be loved came along again, I ran away from it. I stopped trusting people.
Kevin McCallister: No offense, but that seems like sort of a dumb thing to do.
Bird Lady: I was afraid of getting my heart broken again. Sometimes you can trust a person, and then, when things are down, they forget about you.
Kevin McCallister: Maybe they’re just too busy. Maybe they don’t forget about you, but they forget to remember you. People don’t mean to forget. My grandfather says if my head wasn’t screwed on, I’d leave it on the school bus.
Bird Lady: I’m just afraid if I do trust someone, I’ll get my heart broken.
Kevin McCallister: I understand. I had a nice pair of Rollerblades. I was afraid to wreck them, so I kept them in a box. Do you know what happened? I outgrew them. I never wore them outside. Only in my room a few times.
Bird Lady: A person’s heart and feelings are very different than skates.
Kevin McCallister: They’re kind of the same thing. If you won’t use your heart, who cares if it gets broken? If you just keep it to yourself, maybe it’ll be like my Rollerblades. When you do decide to try it, it won’t be any good. You should take a chance. Got nothing to lose.

(This is my most favorite part of the second movie :).)

64) Sleepless In Seattle (1993)

Other one of my favorite romantic movies. The movie makes you feel good at the end and puts a smile on your face. I m a sucker for such kind of movies. Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan are as usual adorable in the movie. I actually think that Meg Ryan is cutest romantic comedies actress, who makes you go all mushy. I don’t have to say anything about Tom Hanks he is one of the best.

Favorite Quote:

Sam Baldwin: Well, it was a million tiny little things that, when you added them all up, they meant we were supposed to be together… and I knew it. I knew it the very first time I touched her. It was like coming home… only to no home I’d ever known… I was just taking her hand to help her out of a car and I knew. It was like… magic.

65) The Matrix (1999)

Ok, I admit… when I 1st saw Matrix I dint quite understand it. All I could see was very charming Reeves doing all super human things. It was only when I watched the movie for the second time I could realize the intelligence of the script. The script is simply spectacular and I couldn’t find loop holes in it atleast. The acting is too good. The choreography is magnificent. I don’t have to say about special effects as that’s what impressed the 1st time and that’s what made me watch it again.

Favorite Quote:

Agent Smith: I’d like to share a revelation that I’ve had during my time here. It came to me when I tried to classify your species and I realized that you’re not actually mammals. Every mammal on this planet instinctively develops a natural equilibrium with the surrounding environment but you humans do not. You move to an area and you multiply and multiply until every natural resource is consumed and the only way you can survive is to spread to another area. There is another organism on this planet that follows the same pattern. Do you know what it is? A virus. Human beings are a disease, a cancer of this planet. You’re a plague and we are the cure.

66) Dead Poets Society (1989)

My sister had asked me to the movie while my Jiju (brother in law) told me I would die with boredom. But after watching the movie I agreed with everything my sister said. This is one of the best Robin Williams movies. His acting in this movie is flawless. This is one of those heart touching… heart- wrenching infact, and thought provoking movies I have seen. Generally, I don’t like watching movies with sad endings because they depress me but with this movie I always make an exception. Even though this movie makes me cry like a baby, I think I can afford all those tears because this movie is brilliant. One of the most underrated movies of all time.

Favorite Quote:

John Keating: No matter what anybody tells you, words and ideas can change the world.

John Keating: There’s a time for daring and there’s a time for caution, and a wise man understands which is called for.

(was hard to just pick one of these two)

67) Moulin Rogue (2001)

This is that movie that made me a fan of Nicole Kidman. One of the most extravagant and artistically pleasing movies I have seen. The story, the music, the visuals, the acting everything is amazing. It has taken that a risk that most of the movies (which is why some hate the movie) but that’s the main reason I love it! Nicole Kidman as Satine is beautiful.

Favorite Quote:

Toulouse-Lautrec: The greatest thing you’ll ever learn is just to love and be loved in return.

68) American Beauty (1999)

There are very few Drama’s that I like and even lesser that impress me. This is one of those intense, serious Academy Award material kind of movie that not many will like. But in my opinion the movie is beautiful, mostly because the writing deals with human emotions in a real way. Every character of this movie feels real. What makes the movie good is that it’s believable… very believable.

Favorite Quote:

Carolyn Burnham: There happens to be a lot about me that you don’t know, Mr. Smarty Man. There’s plenty of joy in my life.

69) The Philadelphia Story (1940)

I guess classics are classics for a reason. There are very few movies made now a days that match up to the natural acting, realistic stories and brilliance of the old movies. To be very honest, when I 1st saw this movie I dint find anything great about it. Actually, I wasn’t a fan of old movies in general because all the color, technology appeals more to me. But once you realize the age they were made in and mature as a viewer you have a new level of appreciation of them. The Philadelphia Story is a perfect example for classical movie with brilliant performances by legends like Cary Grant, Katherine Hepburn and James Stewart. James Stewart is one my favorite actor of all time and I promise you, you will find many movies of his in this list.

Favorite Quote:

Macaulay Connor: Well, this is where Cinderella gets off, now you hurry back to the ball before you turn into a pumpkin and six white mice, goodbye.

70) Juno (2007)

I had two movies contending for this spot Juno and X-men. I love X-men movies but somehow even till date I prefer watching the cartoon 😛 . So, I picked Juno… which is a brilliant movie. It’s a serious movie with a very serious issue dealt in a funny way. Its one of the best examples for dramedy film. Ellen Page in this movie is so cute and brilliant that I till date think her performance should have won her an Oscar.

Favorite Quote:

Juno MacGuff: As far as boyfriends go, Paulie Bleeker is totally boss. He is the cheese to my macaroni.

71) Shakespeare in Love (1998)

This movie has won 7 Academy Awards, so I guess it tells you something about the movie. I don’t bother much about Academy Awards actually, most of the times I don’t agree with their picks. But when it comes to this movie I think it deserves all the awards. The acting, plot, costume, sets, music and everything about this movie is great.

Favorite Quote:

Viola De Lesseps: I love you, Will, beyond poetry.

72) The Others (2001)

One of the best psychological horror/thriller movies I have ever seen. Nicole Kidman in this movie is brilliant. The movie grips from the beginning to the end and you find it hard to even get up and get water, scared that you might miss something important. The movie isn’t a drag, its crisp and ending is something you never ever expect in your wild dreams. If you haven’t seen it watch it, it’s a must watch!

Favorite Quote:

Mrs. Mills: Sometimes the world of the living gets mixed up with the world of the dead.

73) Ratatouille (2007)

How can anyone not love this movie and the rat? This is one more master piece from Pixar. I have fallen in love with Pixar… they keep coming up with one great movie after another. The movie is brilliant and flawless. I sure hope they come up with a sequel for this one. I just can’t get enough of this movie.

Favorite Quote:

Anton EgoNot everyone can become a great artist, but a great artist can come from anywhere.

74) Seven or Se7en (1995)

This is a movie that’s both breath taking and disappointing. Before you ask me why do I keep it here if it’s disappointing the answer is simple – Its 90% breath- taking and just 10% disappointing. The acting by Brad Pitt and Morgan Freeman is brilliant. It’s a Morgan Freeman movie if you ask me… he carries the role so well that you feel like the role is written only and only for him. The story of seven deadly sins and serial killing is awesome. The plot is gripping and as I said breath taking till the very end. Oh, how I wish… how I just wish that ending was different. Its not a bad ending… infact many people will love it, it’s just not my kind of ending.

Favorite Quote:

William Somerset: People don’t want a hero, they want to eat cheeseburgers, play the lotto and watch television.

75) My Best Friends Wedding (1997)

I have seen this movie so many times that I have lost the count. One of Julia Roberts’s best movies. I know many have a problem with the ending… I myself was rooting Julia to ruin the wedding and keep the guy but the ending is realistic and I guess that’s why I like it that much more. And Julia Roberts… Ah Julia Roberts! What an amazing actress she is!

Favorite Quote:

Julianne Potter: This is my one chance at happiness. I have to be ruthless!

76) Collateral (2004)

This movie is owned by Jamie Foxx. Yes, the movie is brilliant. The story is gripping and novel, the movie is well directed, the cinematography of this movie is too good, the action sequences of the movie are well choreographed and Tom Cruise is brilliant in his acting. But the main reason I have seen this movie is Jamie Foxx. Watch this movie for all the above reasons but more importantly for Jamie Foxx’s acting.

Favorite Quote:

77) PS – I Love You (2007)

Raise your hands if you like the movie. This is a brilliant movie and as I said in my review here… it makes you cry and makes you laugh. Its will never be rated highly among critics but well who cares… I like it!

Favorite Quote:

Gerry Kennedy: Every morning I still wake up and the first thing I want to do is to see your face.

78) Ocean’s 11, 12 & 13 (2001, 2004 & 2007)

Brad Pitt *drool*, George Clooney *drool drool*, Matt Damon *drool drool drool*, Julia Roberts *wow*… any movie with a cast like this has to be amazing and so it is. I like con movies a lot and this is one of my favorites. The movie has charm and grace along with good story, some excellent dialogues and a magnificent cast. Ocean’s Eleven was the best of the three in my opinion.

Favorite Quote:

Tess: You know what your problem is?
Danny: I only have one?

79) Mrs. Doubtfire (1993)

Robin Williams is an amazing actor. He can make you laugh or cry with his roles. In this movie he is hilarious and I dont think I have to say about his acting as its obvious. I dont have to say about the story as this movie is the inspiration for our pretty popular Bollywood movie Chachi 420 (Kamal Haasan)… which also btw is a good movie.

Favorite Quote:

Mrs. Doubtfire: My first day as a woman and I’m already having hot flashes.

80) Little Manhattan (2005)

This movie so so so cute and adorable that you can’t help but go ‘aww’ while watching it. The love story of the two 10 year olds brings back all those tingly, butterflies flying, birds chirping, sun shining, romantic tune humming, memories back to you. If you are a hopeless romantic like me, see this movie you will love it!

Favorite Quote:

Gabe: Love isn’t about ridiculous little words. Love is about grand gestures. Love is about airplanes pulling banners over stadiums, proposals on jumbo-trons, giant words in sky writing. Love is about going that extra mile even if it hurts, letting it all hang out there. Love is about finding courage inside of you that you didn’t even know was there.

81) Phone Booth (2002)

Firstly Colin Farrell in this movie is hot! Secondly, the movie is brilliant. I was glued to this movie and hardly missed a scene of it. All the time i wondering who is the caller and how is the movie going to end (I was desperately hoping that Colin wont die). And ever since I found out that Alfred Hitchcock also liked this idea and was planning to make it himself but couldn’t… I like the movie even more. But I cant stop wondering how would this have been if it was made by Hitchcock.

Favorite Quote:

The Caller: If you have to ask, you’re not ready to know yet.

82) Matilda (1996)

This movie is another one of my childhood favorites. This is the 1st movie that got me wishing that I had supernatural powers. I mean how great would it be if I could do everything with just my fingers. The story of the movie is brilliant and the girl who plays Matilda (I don’t know her name) is cute. The movie is makes you feel good at the end of it all and that’s what matters the most when you are kid. I haven’t read the novel yet and I m not planning to do it any time soon.

Favorite Quote:

Matilda: No more Miss Nice Girl!

83) Beethoven (1992)

How can not like this big, sloppy, caring, protective, unbelievable cute Saint Bernard? This is one the best dog movies I have seen. After watching this movie I fell in love with the breed Saint Bernard. This movie was so amazing that this has 5 sequels. Even though none of them match up to the 1st… Beethoven’s 2nd and Beethoven’s 3rd are good enough.

Favorite Quote:

George Newton: My family likes you more than they like me! Why? All you do is drool and shed and eat!

84) Liar Liar (1997)

This is one of the very 1st Jim Carrey movies that I saw and loved. This movie is unbelievably funny and Jim Carrey is brilliant. I had seen Jim Carrey’s movies before and had liked none. I found him kinda irritating most of the time (except for ofcourse in the movie Mask) but this was the 1st movie of his that I recognized and realized this guy is funny and an amazing actor of comedy.

Favorite Quote:

Audrey: Thank you
Jerry: Well, that’s wasn’t exactly the answer I was hoping for…
Audrey: Thank you very much?

85) Devil wears Prada (2006)

This is probably the only time that I liked a movie more than book. And this is mostly because of Meryl Streep’s acting. This woman is an amazing actress. She makes the character of Miranda Priestly so scary, elegant, graceful and awesome that you love to hate her. Anne Hathaway did a good job too, as acting beside Meryl Streep and yet getting noticed is prize in itself. The only reason I watch this movie again and again is Streep… she makes the movie fun and awesome.

Favorite Quote:

Emily: You don’t deserve them, I mean you eat carbs, for Chrissake!

86) One Fine Day (1996)

One of the most romantic movies I have seen. I couldn’t fit it in my last list but it couldn’t be left out of this one. The chemistry between George Clooney (after watching this movie I had a crush on Clooney for days) and Michelle Pfeiffer and their acting are so amazing that I decided to over look a few not so great things about this movie. It hasn’t been a huge commercial success nor is it a critically acclaimed but its one of my favorites.

Favorite Quote:

87) Meet the Parents (2000)

A movie that has Robert De Niro and Ben Stiller has got to be good. And that’s what exactly this movie is ‘wonderfully funny’. I liked the 1st movie ‘Meet the Parents’ than the second one ‘Meet the Fockers’ just a tiny bit and I cant wait for the 3rd movie ‘Little Fockers’ to release soon… this Christmas.

Favorite Quote:

Jack Byrnes: I guess the only thing to do now is meet his parents. I’m sure they’re decent people. I mean they gotta be if they named their son Gaylord Focker.

88) The Italian Job (2003)

The action sequences, the plot and acting are what make this movie my favorite. Its supposedly remake of a 1969 movie of the same name but I haven’t seen it yet and wont see it too. I don’t think the 1969 movie would as good as this one, as what impressed me most are the use of technology and the action.

Favorite Quote:

Stella: I trust everyone. It’s the devil inside them I don’t trust.

89) Clueless (1995)

This is one my favorite teenage movie. I remember sitting in front of the TV and watching this movie every single time it was on air. I liked the story of the movie which ofcourse is loosely based on Emma (which btw is a great novel and if you haven’t read it yet then do). I liked the way it was adapted into a teenage flick that’s fun and romantic. I think this the best Alicia Silverstone movie and the only one I watched I think.

Favorite Quote:

90) 50 First dates (2004)

When I put this movie in my ‘My favorite Romantic movie’ many disagreed with me. But I like this movie. Its sweet, romantic and I like the plot of the movie. I think the main reason I m so into this movie is that even though she doesn’t remember anything, she remembers him and dreams about him. It might not be the best movie ever made but it’s my favorite.

Favorite Quote:

Lucy: I just want to eat you up tomorrow and the next day.

91) Turner and Hooch (1989)

One of the many Tom Hanks movies I m a fan of. I love Tom Hanks… he is a brilliant actor. Anyways, the movie not just belongs to Tom Hanks but big drolly dog… Hooch. The chemistry between Hanks and French Mastiff (Dog) is best part of the movie. It’s a must watch for Tom Hanks and dogs lovers for sure.

Favorite Quote:

Scott Turner: These are the simple rules. No barking, now growling, you will not lift your leg to anything in this house. This is not your room. No slobbering, no chewing, you will wear a flea collar. This is not your room. No begging for food, no sniffing of crotches, and you will not drink from my toilet. This is not your room.

92) The Princess and The Frog (2009)

I love animation movies. My friends call me weird and kiddo for this reason but I don’t really care. To make a good animation movie you need to talented and have a lot of skill and The Princess and the Frog has that. It’s a movie that’s fun, romantic, emotional with a good story. I am not a kid but I do like this movie.

Favorite Quote:

93) Cellular (2004)

I guess this is one of those less known movies. The movie stars Chris Evans and Kim Basinger and is a terrific thriller. The whole concept of the movie is brilliant, its fast paced, well acted with an amazing story line which I think is very unique. If you are a fan of thrillers and haven’t seen this movie yet then do watch it.

94) Look Who’s Talking Series (1989, 1990, 1993)

Oh, how I love the three movies… Look Who’s Talking, Look Who’s Talking Too and Look Who’s Talking Now. I love the 3 movies equally (may be the 1st one a bit more). I love the whole concept of baby talk. I love Bruce Willis voice as the kid, the acting, story and everything. It’s a real funny watch and every time I watch any of these 3 parts, I have fun.

Favorite Quote:

James: It’s weird, isn’t it? You spend the first nine months trying to get out and the rest of your life trying to get back in.

95) The Ring (2002)

This is one of my favorite Horror movies. I am really not all that scared when it comes to watching a horror movie until its absolutely brilliant, indulging and gripping. I was watching this movie alone sleeping on the couch and it for sure gave me chills. Unlike many horror the movies, the horror in this movie comes from the build up in the story. Naomi Watts acting in the movie was amazing.

Favorite Quote:

Anna Morgan: All I ever wanted was you…

96) Marley & Me (2008)

I know that’s its neither one of the best dog movies ever nor does it do justice to the book but I like it. The movie is sweet, funny, cute, real, and simple and you can’t help but fall in love with the Marley. Marley’s antics and the final scene of the movie make the movie what it is.

Favorite Quote:

John Grogan: A dog has no use for fancy cars, big homes, or designer clothes. A water log stick will do just fine. A dog doesn’t care if your rich or poor, clever or dull, smart or dumb. Give him your heart and he’ll give you his.

97) Parent Trap (1998)

Lindsay Lohan in this movie is so sweet, cute and adorable. The whole movie is a perfect blend for a good movie. This was one of my favorite movies when I was a kid. I liked the Butler especially. There is a Telugu version of this movie too but I prefer the Hollywood version.

Favorite Quote:

Hallie: We actually did it!

98) The Wedding Planner (2001)

I thought many many many times before putting this movie here. There are many things not so great about this movie but movie has Matthew McConaughey and Jennifer Lopez in it. The chemistry between the two is something to see and the movie makes you smile. I liked it the 1st time I saw it… the feeling remained the same the next two times I saw it. So, I guess its one of my favorites.

Favorite Quote:

99) What Lies Beneath (2000)

The movie belongs to Michelle Pfeiffer. You have to watch this movie only for her acting. This movie was brilliant at first and if it had been as brilliant in the end, it would have way higher on my list. But the ending of this movie doesn’t go down well with me. But the beginning of the movie and Michelle Pfeiffer is so brilliant that they made me watch it again.

100) Miss. Congeniality (2000)

Sandra Bullock as a tom boy FBI is great and funny. The movie is a light- hearted, funny and there is that added suspense. Its chick lit but well I am a chick, so I like it. I have to say that Miss. Congeniality 2 was no where as good as one. I was disappointed with that movie.
